Support conversations can show where a product page leaves people uncertain. AI can help organize those questions and draft clearer answers, but the work starts with your actual product facts. The goal is to make a purchase easier to evaluate, including helping someone recognize when the item is not right for them.

Prepare a small, clean sample
Select a manageable set of recent questions for one product or closely related variants. Remove names, addresses, order numbers, payment details, and unnecessary personal context before using an approved AI tool. Keep useful tags such as product, variant, question type, and whether the issue happened before or after purchase.
Count conversations rather than individual messages so one long exchange does not look like ten separate complaints. Record the dates and sampling method. Support contacts are a selected group of shoppers; their questions are useful signals, not a representative survey of every visitor.
Cluster questions without guessing the answer
Ask AI to organize the sample around decisions: fit, compatibility, materials, delivery expectations, care, assembly, or returns. Preserve a reference to each anonymized conversation. Check a handful of classifications yourself, particularly examples that fit more than one category.
Consider a hypothetical shop selling stackable pantry containers. Questions about whether the lid is dishwasher safe and whether the container body is dishwasher safe should not be merged into a single yes-or-no answer. Variant and component differences can be the entire reason a shopper contacted support.
Prompt to tryGroup these anonymized support questions by the decision the shopper is trying to make. Return theme, distinct conversation count, example references, product or variant, and information missing from the current page. Do not answer product questions or infer facts that are absent. Mark ambiguous classifications for review. Sample and page: [paste].
Build an approved fact sheet
Before drafting, collect the current specifications, care instructions, sizing information, compatibility limits, and relevant store policies. Identify who owns each fact. A supplier listing, an old support macro, and the current packaging may disagree; resolve that discrepancy before publishing a polished answer.
For the hypothetical containers, your approved sheet might say that only the body is top-rack dishwasher safe and the lid must be hand-washed. Use that distinction exactly. Never let an assistant infer microwave safety, food safety certification, or a guarantee from a product category or a similar item.
Place the answer where the decision happens
Not every question belongs in a long FAQ. A sizing concern may need a diagram beside the variant selector. A compatibility limit may belong near the purchase button. A care instruction may need a short summary with a link to the full guide. Choose the location based on the shopper's task.
Shopify's own guidance cautions that generated product descriptions can introduce unsupported benefits or facts. Review every sentence against the approved sheet, even if your store uses a different platform. AI can organize a known answer; it cannot supply missing product evidence.
Prompt to tryUsing only this approved fact sheet, draft three product-page improvements that address the verified question themes. For each, give the proposed copy, placement, supporting fact, and any unresolved issue. Keep component and variant differences explicit. Do not invent benefits, reviews, certifications, shipping promises, or return exceptions. Facts and themes: [paste].
Measure whether confusion decreases
Publish a small, reviewed change and record the date. Track the specific question category, relevant support contacts per order, returns related to misunderstanding, and product-page behavior. Use equivalent periods and note promotions, stock changes, or shipping disruptions that could affect the comparison.
A lower support count is not automatically better if orders also fell or the contact form stopped working. Read new conversations to see whether shoppers understand the distinction you added. With enough traffic and an appropriate setup, an experiment can help compare versions; small stores can start with a documented before-and-after review without claiming causation.
Try it on one real task
- Review twenty recent conversations about one product, removing personal details first.
- Verify the three most common question themes against current product information.
- Publish one approved clarification and review the same question category again in two weeks.
Check before you use the result
- No unnecessary customer information was shared with the assistant.
- Distinct conversations and product variants were counted correctly.
- Every new claim maps to an approved product fact.
- The page remains readable on mobile and links to accurate policies.
