Give RSA assets different jobs: identify the product, explain a benefit, answer an objection and make the next action clear. Check every combination against the product page.
You will create: A reviewed RSA asset set with a message test hypothesis.
See the full advertising learning pathAn RSA, or responsive search ad, combines the headlines and descriptions you supply. Write assets that work individually and in different combinations. An ecommerce shopper should understand what you sell, why it helps and what they will find after clicking.
Build the message before the assets
Choose a product, an intent group and a page. For an illustrative pantry container store, the situation is a small pantry with hard-to-find ingredients; the benefit is easier organization. Only claim airtight seals, dishwasher compatibility, stock or delivery speed when the product and operations support those statements.
Use the current asset limits
Google permits up to 15 headlines of 30 characters and four descriptions of 90 characters. Include spaces and punctuation in your count. Display path fields allow 15 characters each. Pin an asset only when it must appear in a supported position; pinning reduces the combinations available. Ad Strength is a creative diagnostic, not your profit metric.
Illustrative headline set
- Organize Your Pantry
- Glass Pantry Containers
- Find Ingredients Faster
- Storage For Small Kitchens
- See Sizes Before You Buy
- Build Your Storage Set

- Clear Containers, Clear View
- Make Shelf Space Work Harder

These sample assets are not a claim about an actual product or a proven campaign. Check every statement against your store before use.
Illustrative descriptions
- See container sizes and choose a set that fits your pantry. Shop glass storage today.
- Give everyday staples a clear home. Compare sizes, product details and delivery options.
- Organize small shelves with a set that suits your space. See details before you buy.
- Find the right storage for your kitchen. Check materials, care instructions and shipping.
Match the destination
Send pantry queries to pantry storage, not a generic home page. Show sizes, care instructions, price, variants and shipping clearly. Preview combinations and remove repetition or contradictions. Never promise a discount that has expired. If a claim must always appear, check placement behavior instead of assuming every description is shown.
Measure orders and learning
Review query relevance, purchases, net revenue and contribution. Use a controlled experiment where available to compare a meaningful message change. Automated delivery does not give every asset an equal random trial; a frequently served headline is not automatically the cause of better performance.
Improve an asset by giving it one job
| Generic draft | Stronger example | Why it is more useful |
|---|---|---|
| Amazing Products Online | Glass Pantry Containers | Identifies the product shoppers searched for |
| Transform Your Life | Find Ingredients Faster | Names a concrete benefit |
| Quality You Can Trust | See Sizes Before You Buy | Resolves a specific buying concern without unsupported praise |
| Click Here Today | Compare Container Sizes | Explains the next action |
The stronger version is still a hypothesis. A dimension-led message may outperform a speed-led message for a shopper worried about fit, while another audience values convenience. Write a reason for every headline so the set covers different purchase questions.
Add an offer only when it helps the decision
An offer can be a useful bundle, a clear product configuration or a service promise your store can fulfill. It does not have to be a discount. If you include a price, shipping threshold or deadline, assign an owner to update the ad and destination together. A good ad becomes misleading when the offer changes but the asset keeps running.
Use the display paths to clarify the destination, for example pantry / glass-sets. They are not a replacement for the final URL. Review relevant sitelinks such as size guide, care instructions and shipping information when those pages exist and help the purchase.
Check combinations before launch
Read three headlines and one description aloud in several orders. Remove assets that depend on a previous line, such as And It Fits Too. Check that the combination does not promise an option, price or guarantee absent from the page. Google's layouts can vary; the complete asset set will not appear in every impression.
A useful message experiment
Compare a convenience concept against a fit-confidence concept for the same product and intent. Keep the offer consistent and document any destination difference. If using an experiment, define the primary purchase outcome and acceptable acquisition cost before launch. If your budget cannot support a credible comparison, use the result as directional learning and say so.
For a second ecommerce category, a travel-bag message could pair Compact Weekend Backpack with See What Fits Inside. The product page would need a real packing demonstration. This transfers the method: query relevance, useful benefit and decision evidence. It does not transfer the original product claim.

Questions store owners ask
Should I fill all 15 RSA headlines?
Use the available space when you have distinct, useful assets. Do not fill it with repetitive wording or claims you cannot support.
Is Ad Strength the same as campaign performance?
No. Treat it as a creative diagnostic. Evaluate purchases, new customers, net revenue and contribution to assess commercial performance.
